Thanks to the monumental efforts led byEnrique Soto-Astorga, head of the Research Group in the Philosophy of Computing at UNAM, an important group of theoretical biologists, philosophers of biology, and other species of biologists, met in the beautiful campus of UNAM. The conference was centered around anticipatory systems theory and Rosennean complexity. Amongst other things that happened, I want to emphasize how important was the convergence of two "threads" of theoretical biology: Relational Biology and the Santiago School of Biology. This was not a mere symbolic representation of these two streams, but an embodied one: Judith Rosen, daughter of Robert Rosen, and Juan Carlos Lettelier, student of Varela-Maturana, attended and delivered lectures. It was a privilege to participate in this event and meet old and new friends.
